MAN OF STEEL/HOT AIR
Aquaman is a character who in recent years has been the joke of the Justice league, mainly thanks to shows like Robot Chicken and Family Guy, But writer and head of DC creative Geoff Johns along Artist Ivan Reis are out to make Aquaman cool (much like what Johns did with Green Lantern) and if Issue one is any indication this ongoing series is going to be a good one. this first issue is basically setting up what we will be seeing more of, Aquaman as a badass as well as addressing how many perceived him.
In the first couple of pages we see Aquaman stopping a crime andthe criminals first reaction is laughter this is then followed up by the police just being ashamed of themselves for having the much mocked Aquaman doing their job. this style of pop cultrally aware writing is rampant throughout this book and is very welcome. It is very refreshing to see Johns breath new life into the character, paired with Reis’s fantastic artwork, makes Aquaman a must-read in the NEW 52
